There are a few nods to some scenes from famous stories in this comic. Can you spot them? Try to figure them out and list them in the comments.

This issue references #120 a few times. If you didn’t notice.  It’s gunna get crazy.  Real soon.

Oh, and just because I’m sure someone will ask eventually, I did tweak the color of Peter’s skin in this issue. I added a bit more red, to make it look more realistic.

Dwarven hunting is a generally unsuccessful affair, usually resulting in large messes. Dwarven farming is even worse.

So how do you think Peter’s is going to get out of this one? Can he do anything without the help of Algerbane? What can one little dwarf do when pitted against an army of the living dead?

Skulls, bones and other assorted items common to giant tombs. Well we’re back with Peter and boy has he stepped in it! The ravenous lichmen have captured him and brought him to their desiccated leader. But why? Why did they not kill him and eat him right away? The Lichlord is pondering that same thing. We’ll find out soon enough.

So we’re sort of jumping back and forth between the trio’s individual adventures.  I’m curious to see how this will work out.  More of an experiment in story-telling (as is the entire comic).

Next week we spin the wheel.

Algerbane just can’t catch a break.

That title says it all, really.

I’m sure the map was quite inaccurate, but one must wonderful how the dwarf failed to see such a gigantic field before him.

Algerbane’s had some colorful experiences with marauder-types.  Don’t believe me? Check it out in this comic and this one (warning: going WAY back).  It looks like our heroes are about to embark on their own individual adventures.  How will it all turn out?  What dangerous and discoveries await them?

I for one am eager to find out!

Here are a few notes on Welsley, that I don’t think will make it into the comic. Welsley is a small, but wealthy kingdom, one of humanity’s oldest.  It’s territory is managed by counts, who swear their loyalty to the King, who rules from the Capital City (generally referred to as ‘Welsley’).  Hilome, the desolate region our heroes were recently visiting, is the northernmost county of Welsley; it was so far removed from the rest of the kingdom, few people were aware of its collapse, nor did they care.  In recent years, the land has waned in power, each count content to look after his own affairs and pay little attention to the edicts of the king.  The last ruler to command massive respect was the father of Bjoram, King Grahm.

The Order of the Leaf is the formal name given to the naturalist branch of magic Algerbane specializes in. In this sort of situation, it was the most relatable thing he could mention to the witch. I’m sure she’s never heard of the “Brown Council.”

You may notice I changed the landscape a bit from the past few comics.  I wanted some grass, so I made some grass.  Boom, just like that.  I’m all about messing with your reality.

Thursday we finally say goodbye to this annoying witch.

Nothing good can come of this, eh? We’ll find out next Tuesday.

Ordinarily, dwarves make expert marksmen, but this is Peter we’re talking about. And she was on top of a mountain.
